Cold Snap — Patch Notes 1.7.0

Patch 1.7.0 brings the Cold Snap update: a new freezing map condition, the Flickering Flames event, Skill Tree Reset, an Aim Down Sights toggle, and balance passes on the Bettina, Rattler, and Shredder.

Balance Changes

Weapons

Bettina

These changes aim to make the Bettina less reliant on a secondary weapon, giving it more competence in PVP without tipping the scales too far.

  • Durability Burn Rate reduced from ~0.43% to ~0.17% per shot (magazines per durability increased from ~12 to ~26, accounting for the magazine size increase)
  • Base Magazine Size increased from 20 to 22
  • Base Reload Time reduced from 5 to 4.5

Rattler

The Rattler is not intended to compete with the Stitcher or Kettle at close range, but it gets a minor buff to bring its PVP TTK at lower levels closer to those weapons.

  • Base Magazine Size increased from 10 to 12

ARC

Shredder

  • Reduced knockback applied by weapons; increased movement speed and turning responsiveness
  • Increased head health to prevent unintended head shot-off behavior
  • Improved navigation to reduce getting stuck on corners, narrow spaces, and obstacles
  • Increased speed of entering combat when taking damage or in close player proximity
  • Increased the number of individually destroyable parts

  • Achievements now enabled in the Epic store

Animation

  • Fixed Field Crate pickup with a Trigger ‘Nade attached causing unintended character sliding/movement
  • Fixed Snap Hook with ziplines/ladders storing momentum and launching players long distances
  • Fixed running animation appearing incorrect after a small drop while over-encumbered
  • Interactions now end correctly when performing a dodge roll
  • Fixed arm twisting when interacting while holding items or deployables
  • Added more natural animations to character skins and equipment

ARC

  • Fixed deployables attached to enemies causing unintended launches or clipping out of bounds
  • Missiles no longer reverse course after passing targets; they now correctly track at different elevations
  • Sentinel: Fixed laser not reaching targeted players at greater distances
  • Surveyor: Disabled vaulting onto ARC Surveyors to prevent unintended launches while moving
  • Fixed Bombardier projectiles shooting through the Matriarch shield from outside

Audio

  • Fixed Gas, Stun, and Impulse Mines not playing a trigger sound or switching their light to yellow when shot-triggered
  • Increased simultaneous footstep sounds and their priority
  • Fixed footsteps on metal stairs becoming very quiet when walking slowly
  • Improved directional sound for ARC enemies
  • Added sounds for sending and receiving text chat messages in the main menu
  • Removed “mom?” from the Speranza cantina ambient sound
  • Tweaked announcement loudness in Main Menu screens
  • Various small audio bugfixes and polish

Maps

General

  • Fixed spawning logic preventing reconnecting players from spawning next to newly joined players
  • Various collision, geometry, VFX, and texture fixes addressing terrain gaps, geometry clipping, stuck spots, floating objects, and texture overlaps
  • Fixed a Raider Hatch slope too steep for downed raiders to crawl on
  • Security Lockers are now dynamically spawned across all maps instead of statically placed
  • Fixed Raider Caches not spawning during Prospecting Probes in some cases
  • Fixed lootable containers and Supply Drops spawning inside terrain on The Dam and Blue Gate
  • Fixed doors appearing closed for some players despite being open
  • Electromagnetic Storm: lightning strikes sometimes leave behind valuable items
  • Increased Great Mullein spawn locations across all maps

Dam Battlegrounds

  • Moved the Matriarch spawn point to an area better suited to her strengths

Spaceport

  • Adjusted the locked room protection area in Container Storage so it no longer affects players outside the room

Blue Gate

  • Added the Locked Gate map condition
  • Adjusted map bounds near a ledge to improve navigation and reduce abrupt out-of-bounds stops
  • Improved tree LODs to reduce overly dark visuals at distance
  • Fixed loot spawning outside the Locked Room in Village
  • Added props and visual cues to the final camp in the “A First Foothold” quest

Stella Montis

  • Increased item and blueprint spawn rates
  • Some breachable containers no longer drop Rubber Ducks when using the “A Little Extra” skill
  • Adjusted window glass clarity to improve visibility

Spaceport

Miscellaneous

  • General crash fixes, including AMD crashes
  • Added Skill Tree Reset functionality for 2,000 Coins per skill point
  • Wallet now displays the Cred soft cap (800). A cap was added so players cannot fully unlock new Raider Decks just by accumulating Cred; more items have been added to Shani’s store to spend Cred on.
  • Added Raider Tool customization
  • Fixed a bug causing players to spawn without gear in default customization, losing loadout items
  • For ranks up to Daredevil I, leaderboards now have a 3x promotion zone for the top 5 players; new objectives added
  • Fixed tutorial door breach cancellation preventing cutscene playback and blocking progression

  • Fixed a traversal issue blocking jumping/climbing in certain areas while crouched
  • Fixed ladder climbing over open gaps causing automatic detachment

  • Reduced acceleration when dodge rolling from a slide

UI

General

  • Added an option to toggle Aim Down Sights
  • Added a new “Cinematic” graphics setting for high-end PCs

Codex

  • Improved accuracy of damage dealt tracking in player stats
  • Field-crafted items now properly count toward Player Stats
  • Fixed a missing Codex Records sound
  • Added a Codex section to rewatch previously seen videos

Console

  • Updated PlayStation 5 controller button prompts with improved Options and Share icons
  • Fixed a crash when using Show Profile from Player Info on Xbox

Customization

  • Character rotation is now available in the customization screen; fixed first equip triggering an unintended unequip
  • Added notifications highlighting recently unlocked items
  • Fixed equipment customization items bought from the Loadout screen not equipping after pressing Equip

End of Round

  • Further reduced end-of-round feedback survey pop-up frequency
  • Added an optional Round Feedback button on the final end-of-round screen

  • Fixed the zipline interaction prompt remaining on a previously used zipline; prompts now clear when out of range
  • The quick equip item wheel now has a stable layout without collapsing items

  • Players no longer see error messages when canceling purchases

Social

  • Fixed Discord friends appearing with incorrect status after switching to Invisible/Online; presence now refreshes correctly
  • Added a Party Join icon for clearer party invitations and joins
  • Fixed the Social right-click menu remaining visible after rapid opening/closing on gamepad

Tooltips

  • Fixed incorrect item tooltips for ARC stun duration
  • Tooltips now reposition to remain fully visible at all resolutions
  • Fixed tooltips showing “Blueprint already learned” on completed goal rewards; they now display correct information

Trials

  • Trials objectives now clearly indicate bonus conditions such as Map Conditions
  • Fixed the Trial rank icon missing on the Player Stats screen after starting the game
  • Added a Trials popup explaining ranking and clarifying that the final rank is worldwide

VOIP

  • Added Microphone Test functionality
  • Added better automatic checks for VOIP input/output device problems
  • The mouse thumb button for push-to-talk no longer triggers “Back” in menus
  • Fixed the voice chat status icon incorrectly appearing muted for party members until someone spoke
  • HUD no longer shows VOIP icons when voice chat is disabled; the own party VOIP icon appears as disabled

Utility

  • Increased loot value in Epic key card rooms to reflect their rarity
  • Expanded blueprint spawn locations to improve underrepresented areas
  • Moved the Aphelion blueprint drop from Matriarch to Stella Montis
  • Fixed players becoming unable to perform actions after interacting with carriable objects during bad network conditions, or being downed while holding carriables and then revived
  • Fixed Deadline dealing damage through walls
  • Fixed deployables attached to enemies or buildable structures causing launches or environment passage
  • Keys are no longer removed from the safe pocket when using Unload backpack
  • Fixed cheater-compensation rewards granting integrated augment items
  • Fixed Flame Spray dealing too much damage to some ARC
  • Fixed sticky throwables (Trigger ‘Nade, Snap Blast Grenade, Lure Grenade) disappearing when thrown at trees
  • Fixed incorrect deployment range calculation for deployable items
  • Fixed mines not triggering through damage before arming
  • Playing an instrument now applies a “Vibing Status” effect to nearby players
  • Fixed Rubber Ducks being unable to be placed in the Trinket slot on an Augment

Weapons

  • Lighter ARC are now pushed back slightly when struck by melee attacks
  • Fixed stowed weapons not appearing on first spawn
  • Fixed an exploit allowing energy weapon reload without ammo consumption
  • Aiming down sights now resumes if interrupted while the aim button is held (for example, after reloading or a stun)
  • Fixed an exploit allowing shotguns to bypass the intended fire cooldown

Quests

  • Fixed a “Greasing Her Palms” quest bug letting players accidentally trigger the objective
  • Made the ESR Analyzer quest item easier to find in Buried City
  • Improved the clarity of “Marked for Death” quest clues
  • Fixed quest videos triggering multiple times
  • Added interactions to find spare keys to several locked room quests
  • Added unique quest items to the “Unexpected Initiative” quest
  • Fixed squad sharing incorrectly completing objectives that spawn quest-specific items

Known Issues

  • AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT users see a driver warning popup at startup despite the latest version fixing a GPU crash on Blue Gate load
  • Items exceeding stash capacity are not included in the final departure screen value calculation but are included in reward calculations
